Connect the App and WiFi

Connect the App

  1. Turn on Bluetooth in your phone's system settings.
  2. Open the EgoCap2 App and allow it to use Nearby Devices or Bluetooth permissions.
  3. Open “Add Device” or the device list.
  4. Select the device whose name starts with EgoCap and whose serial number matches the device label.
  5. Wait for the App to display the battery level, firmware version, and SD card status.

Configure WiFi

  1. Select “Network Settings” on the device page.
  2. Select a WiFi network and enter its password.
  3. Wait for the App to display “Connected” and the current network name.

You can leave the password blank for an open network. Network names may contain Chinese characters, but the App must send them in the correct UTF-8 format.

:::note Why is WiFi needed? Bluetooth is used to discover the device, read its status, and send control commands. Live preview, file downloads, and some update features usually require a working network connection between the phone and the device. :::

If the device cannot be found

  • Move the phone closer to the device and make sure the device is turned on.
  • Temporarily disconnect any other phones connected to the device.
  • Check that the App has Bluetooth and Nearby Devices permissions.
  • Turn your phone's Bluetooth off and on, then scan again.
  • If you still cannot connect, note the device serial number and status light behavior, then see Common issues.
