Update the Device

A firmware update replaces the software running on the device and automatically verifies the new version. If an update fails, the device has a protection mechanism that rolls back to the previous working software.

Before updating

  • Stop all recordings and wait for the light to become solid green.
  • Connect a stable power supply.
  • Confirm that the network connection between the device and the App is working.
  • Do not perform an unplanned update immediately before an important recording.
  • Note the current firmware version.

Start the update

Check for updates in the device settings in the App and follow the prompts to confirm. Once the download or upload is complete, the device begins installation and the status light flashes white.

During the update:

  • Do not disconnect power.
  • Do not remove the SD card.
  • Do not start recording.
  • Do not press the power or configuration button repeatedly.
  • A temporary App disconnection does not necessarily mean that the update has failed.

After the update

  1. Wait for the device to return to a solid green light.
  2. Reconnect the App.
  3. Confirm that the firmware version has changed.
  4. Confirm that the battery, SD card, and network statuses are normal.
  5. Make a short test recording and check the result.

:::note About restart prompts Some updates that include the system kernel will prompt you to restart the device. Follow the prompt and restart normally only after the update is complete and the device status is normal. :::

If the white light flashes for a long time or the device cannot return to standby, keep it powered, note the time when the update started and the device serial number, then contact support.
